I've looked...

Storm Doris hit the Wirral and although it brought misery throughout much of the country, I'd thought it hadn't touched us, as these things so rarely do. Well Wednesday night the weather got worse and, I went out the next day, in the gales... only to find out the doctors appointment had been the day prior.... and, I had no soles to my shoes, having left the house in the wrong pair of boots.

Much as I'd gone out on such an inclement day, for no good reason, I'd been glad to be out in the fresh air and mobile and, thankful I'd brought my camera with me, to evidence the wind damage that I saw, while out. There was a tree fallen through someone's lounge, in a bunch of flats; and at my doctors, another had gone through an out building.

Once home I had begun to contemplate what I'd eat later, as I'd made my banana and blueberry cream-shake. Much later, as I ate my bowl of mackerel, veg, n barley n soya n tomato curry soup I'd decided to check the fridge and my shake --- which had set and was cool and, delicious.

come the Friday dad had thrust a letter beneath my bedroom door, which he then opened and showed an opened letter through the gap, saying to me, “Is this yours?”

He'd read it, that was obvious. Yet still he'd felt the need to ask me questions. Then, after seeing who had sent the letter, I'd decided glasses were needed. It had been from the dole.

I'd got my glasses and settled down to read the letter, quite obviously directed toward me. It told of a rise to my ESA, on or after April 10th of just over £60 a week. The sum of money had been one thing, but what had sent me into a funk had been the two words that explained why I was entitled to the extra – 'severely disabled'.

Then, I had been unable to go out Friday evening, as my guts decided to take control, as if to prove a point, that I'm 'severely disabled' and, for once I felt it.

We had a day of blues skies and sun on the Wednesday and while dad washed his bedding prior to a dentists appointment, I'd pottered around preparing a disc; then I finished weeding the side boarder and washed the front window; which had really needed it, after all the bad weather we've had of late.

Well, needless to say, after I'd seen to my Father's tea, I lay down to rest my knees and woke, several hours later... I'd been shattered, pleasantly so, but shattered... when I awoke, I had soup, made a chicken broth and wrote awhile, as the rain fell hard, outside my bedroom window...

On a Thursday I often watch a film with 'young' Mike, Barry's nephew. I had decided to show him one of my favourite movies, 'Payback', having just acquired it as a 720 mp4

We sat to watch the film and, at the end I was gutted – it just hadn't been what I'd recalled. All I'd been able to say to Mike was, “Different version, or cut...”

And, with my disappointment apparent, Mike had said, “Guess it's like an unfinished sentence”, which I'd thought most astute of him.

Anyway, I'd hit Google and learned that the version I saw was the 2006 Directors Cut, while I know and like the theatrical cut, which is longer and, has more to it... I think. Needless to say, I quickly acquired a copy of the version I remembered. Now I hope Mike agrees to watch it and, see what I saw in it.

And, I did go to see the Mr Webb the face fellow, who had been so helpful awhile back, straightening it out and, telling me I'd had more infections than anyone he'd seen previously. And, lucky me, I had been listening to Radio Merseyside --- as I do, so had learned the loop line was back on. Well, from there it was a reasonable price for a taxi journey. And besides, they are giving me the mobility component of Pip, so I may as well use it for it's intended purpose I'd thought, to justify a taxi journey to and from Broadgreen Hospital, on a really drizzly grey day.

And, talking of journey's --- I am ever so against the idea of driver only operated trains, having had assistance of guards on trains a few times --- once I'd had help from a guard, after problems with a group of young people, who had decided I'd looked different and, on another occasion a guard had given us assistance off the train when the electricity on the line had failed between stations. On both occasions a sole driver would have been of no use to me, whatsoever. Furthermore, on both occasions cited, it was a guard, who helped me --- a camera could not do that: and, if seen what would have happened on both occasions; equals too much for one man to control and, a threat to passengers safety: in this event, mine. And, I value my personal safety greatly.

Cost-cutting is one thing, but cost-cutting at the expense of passenger-safety cannot be defended and, there is no research available whatsoever to vindicate the opinions vaunted by some, that these 'new trains' being driver only, will be 'as safe' as a train with a guard on. I've looked.
